While online advertising is definitely worth exploring, don’t forget that there are avenues to spread your brand offline too! Check out these simple and affordable steps to grow your business’s brand awareness.
1. Advertise at local cafés or community centers.
Most of the time, cafés, coffee shops or community centers have bulletins where people from the community can advertise their services or local activities. You’d be surprised at the amount of traffic these bulletins receive.
2. Collect business cards.
This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s worth mentioning. Not only should you be distributing your business cards, but you should also collect business cards, or virtual business cards. Once you have contact information, call, email, or visit the business location. If you found their card, simply say where you found their information and let them know you’re interested in working with them.
3. Wear your brand.
Are you confident enough to wear your brand? I know you’re probably thinking, “I’m not starting a clothing line”—no worries, you don’t need to be. Put your logo on that t-shirt or hat that you’re always wearing. It’s an easy, affordable way to maximize your brand’s exposure.
4. Stick with stickers.
Stickers are a great promo item—they’re inexpensive, fun, and can go a long way. Hand them out to people who support your business, and give them to potential or existing clients. Consider putting a sticker on your laptop or creating an inexpensive custom decal to put on your car to promote your business. *Don’t forget to add contact information to your stickers*
5. Don’t underestimate word-of-mouth advertising.
This may be one of the most overlooked ways of advertising, but it’s a powerful tool. Tell your family and friends to tell their families and friends about your product or service. Think about how many times someone in your circle has referred you to someone else. You trust them enough to consider their advice, right?
6. Attend community or professional events.
Depending on what kind of business you’re starting, you can participate by being a sponsor, an attendee, having a booth, or making some sort of contribution. Be sure to bring plenty of business cards and be prepared to talk about your business (create a 30 second elevator-speech). Make sure you follow up with any connections you make!
7. Join a professional networking group.
You can choose to join a professional group based off of your industry or based off of your target audience. If you want to be reputable and continue professional development, you could join a professional group based off of your industry. If you’d like the opportunity to market your business, join a professional group that allows you to build relationships with your target audience.
